I've been thinking about clothes since I was 11 years old and honestly, I haven't stopped since. I graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA in Womenswear, and for the last 12 years I've been working in the London fashion industry as a creative pattern cutter, occasionally as a designer, for a range of designers across the city. Draping is where I feel most myself. There's something about working directly on the stand, shaping fabric with your hands, that never gets old for me.

To me, clothes are more than fashion. They're art. But they also have to work on a body, move with a person, hold their shape. That's what I love about making garments: it satisfies both sides of my brain. I'm creative, but I'm also deeply logical. Construction is where those two things meet.

studioHENNIS started as a YouTube channel in 2023. I wanted to share the kind of content I wished had existed when I was learning, (actually you never stop learning in this profession). Projects that push boundaries, not just beginner basics.

It was born from a deep appreciation for the artistry of garment making and a frustration that advanced construction techniques, the really interesting stuff, were rarely taught in an accessible way. I believe those techniques deserve to be shared, celebrated and put in the hands of anyone with the passion and patience to learn them.

True creative power lies in understanding how things are built. That's why every pattern I design comes with detailed instructions, designer notes and companion video resources. Because when you understand how something is built, you gain the power to reimagine it and bring those techniques into your own creative practice.

My approach combines bold, forward-thinking design with accessible education. I want to make advanced construction methods available to passionate sewists and aspiring designers who are ready to push boundaries and create pieces that are genuinely worth wearing.
